Cache la Poudre Watershed Assessment

We are starting a watershed assessment and prioritization for the Cache la Poudre Watershed. The assessment is following a procedure prescribed by the Front Range Watershed Protection Data Refinement Work Group titled “Protecting Critical Watersheds in Colorado from Wildfire: A Technical Approach to Watershed Assessment and Prioritization”. See the sidebar for a link to more information.

The Cache la Poudre Watershed Assessment will be completed to identify, prioritize, and recommend measures to protect those watersheds that provide or convey critical community water supplies from the adverse effects of post-wildfire hydrologic changes, including flooding, erosion, deposition, and introduction of potential contaminants.

One of the goals of this assessment is to gather the key stakeholders together to communicate the suggested process, listen to any suggested changes, and build collaborative support for the assessment process.

There are a number of documents available for your review and use on the Poudre Files page (see link on sidebar). Some of the results are also available for your review on the Poudre Results Blog (see link on sidebar).

We have scheduled our fourth stakeholder meeting on Wednesday, August 11th from 1-3 PM. It will be held at the City of Fort Collins Water Treatment Facility, 4316 LaPorte Ave., Fort Collins (see map and instructions below). A PDF of the directions for that meeting location can also be found on the Poudre Files page (see link on sidebar).
